GOV. EMMANUEL COMMISSIONS MULTI-PURPOSE MARKET OFFICE, 100 UNITS SLAUGHTER SLAPS, INAUGURATES TRAILER PARK IN ITU
The Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Friday, 29th July, 2022, commissioned a Multi-purpose Market Office and 100 Units of Slaughter Stalls with slaps for the entire traders in Efaha Itam market, a Civic Center and Transformer at Ikot Anie, all in Itu local government.
The Governor, while Performing the commissioning, urged those which the stalls is built for to vacate the roadside and make good use of the facility inline with health and safety consciousness in order to avoid environmental hazard.
The Governor, was ably represented by the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mkpisong Frank Archibong ,
Mr. Archibong, who said Governor Udom Emmanuel is not a stranger to Efaha Itam traders, called for support to the Council chairman and assured of briefing the governor on all the appeals made by the traders, adding that, Udom Emmanuel is a committed leader and a promise keeper.
He advised them to make good use of the facility by ensuring its safety and keeping them clean at all times.
The newly commissioned market office has a functional clinic, Mini police post, offices for management,conference hall for meetings and a mini micro finance bank for cash deposits, withdrawals and online fund transactions.
Meanwhile, at Odiok Itam, the governor’s representative inaugurated a trailer park facilitated by Subsea limited and also commissioned a Civic Center & Transformer at Ikot Anie, all in Itu LGA.
The State Chief Executive poured encomium on the Chairman and the investor for coming up with such innovation.
The Governor specifically stressed that aside creating jobs, the Park will reduce the risk as well as the stress for the operators.
“Recently, Akwa Ibom State has been a destination choice for investors and this is another of such investment.
“It is consonant with the governor’s vision for the State as this will help reduce unemployment and hazards.
We trust that the execution of the project and the set time frame will be achieved”.
“We thank the Chairman for the innovation, this will equally speak for you (Chairman) when you are no longer in office as it will count among your legacies,” he added.
Earlier, in his welcome remarks, Executive Chairman of Itu, Mr. Etim Onuk, said he saw the completion of the 100 units stalls by his administration as a huge relief to traders and Itam people.
Mr. Onuk, appreciated the governor on behalf of the traders, for the grant of free Interest loan, midweek ticketing free days and appointment of a member of the traders Association as Special Assistant (SA) on Market and Trade.
The commissioning was witnessed by the Executive Chairman of Ukanafun LGA, Hon. Godwin Inyieng, Head of Service, Councilors and Supervisors in Itu legislative council, Engr. Uboho Ekanem, project Site Engr. Sunday Akpan. President General of Afigh Iwaad Ekid, Obongiwaad Etienne Bob, Mr. Anieofok Udoh, Royal fathers led by the clan Head of Itam, Etebom Dr. Donald Ubo, deputy Women leader of Itam Market, Mrs. Grace Ekah, women and youth support groups.
